Block Share Price Surges After Strong Q3 Earnings

Block, Inc. (ASX:XYZ) shares surged 6.06% on Wednesday, November 4, closing at A$116.31 as stronger-than-expected quarterly earnings and upgraded financial guidance boosted investor confidence. The stock gained A$6.65 from its previous close of A$109.66, reaching an intraday high of A$118.00. The rally followed Block’s third-quarter results, which highlighted accelerating profitability across its Cash App and Square businesses. The fintech company also raised its full-year outlook, reinforcing expectations of stronger earnings momentum.

Block Earnings Beat Wall Street Expectations

Block reported third-quarter revenue of US$6.72 billion, increasing approximately 10% year-on-year.

Gross profit climbed 22% to US$3.24 billion, reflecting stronger performance across its payments and financial services businesses.

Adjusted diluted earnings per share reached US$1.13, representing 109% year-on-year growth.

More importantly, adjusted operating income surged 92% to US$923 million, delivering a record adjusted operating margin of 29% of gross profit.

The results demonstrate improving operational efficiency as Block converts growing business activity into higher profitability.

Cash App Growth Drives Block’s Performance

Cash App remained a major growth driver, generating US$2.07 billion in quarterly gross profit, up 27% year-on-year.

The platform reached 60 million monthly transacting active accounts in September, supported by customer engagement and expanding financial services.

Consumer lending origination volume increased 40% to US$19 billion, reflecting growth across Block’s lending products.

Meanwhile, Square generated US$1.16 billion in gross profit, representing 14% year-on-year growth.

The combined performance demonstrates how Block’s consumer and merchant ecosystems are contributing to earnings expansion.

Block Raises FY2026 Earnings Guidance

Following its strong quarterly performance, Block increased its FY2026 gross profit forecast to US$12.626 billion, representing expected annual growth of 22%.

Management also raised its adjusted operating income guidance to US$3.519 billion and adjusted diluted earnings-per-share outlook to US$4.15.

For 2027, Block provided a preliminary gross profit outlook of US$14.519 billion, representing approximately 15% annual growth.

However, credit losses, regulatory developments and competition across digital payments remain important risks.

Can Block Shares Continue Rising?

Block’s outlook will depend on sustained Cash App engagement, profitable lending growth and Square’s ability to attract merchants.

Investors will also monitor operating margins and whether management can deliver its upgraded financial targets.

The latest results suggest improving business momentum, although further share-price gains will depend on execution and market conditions.
